Hi there, I'm Shaylyn! My name is Shaylyn and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California. I work primarily with young adults with challenges such as anxiety, neurodivergence, self-esteem, and life transitions. I genuinely care about my clients and have a deep belief that everyone has the ability to grow. In addition to my experience with neurodivergence, I have certifications in domestic violence and tech addiction. My approach As not only a therapist but a fellow human being, I believe we are all born with value. Life can be full of obstacles and challenges such as trauma, addictions, disorders, and injustices that can make it difficult to feel that value. I strive to support clients in identifying their strengths and overcoming obstacles so that their inner greatness can shine. To do this I utilize an eclectic approach weaving in elements of CBT, narrative, and psychodynamic therapy to tailor your treatment to your specific needs. My focus I enjoy working with college students and young adults facing challenges related to neurodivergence and anxiety related to the stress of college or navigating adulthood. My communication style I create a very relaxed environment and therapeutic relationship. Bring your snacks, coffee, and comfy PJs to the session, whatever you need to be comfortable. I create space for you to feel comfortable opening up about the good, bad, and ugly, and am also going to gently point out blind spots and come alongside you in working through those. My journey to mental healthcare Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade working in the public special education system, primarily with Autism and ADHD. Through that experience, I realized that I cared more about my students' experience in their education than the education itself. Upon this realization I decided to become a therapist and do work that approaches the root of the challenge rather than one specific area the challenge is showing up in.
